Leap has partnered with Mannington Commercial for the past several years to debut the company’s new products at NeoCon – the commercial design industry’s launch pad for new products and services, held every year in Chicago. Mannington Commercial is a leading manufacturer of American-made flooring products.

Challenge

What do Larry Bell, a renowned modern artist, Lenore Tawney, a master weaver who helped integrate craft and high art, and Brutalist architecture from the mid-20th century have in common? They were Mannington Commercial’s inspirations for the products they launched at NeoCon 2019. Our task was to take these distinctly different influences and create a cohesive, brand-appropriate showroom design and event materials, promoting Mannington Commercial’s new flooring products to the varied NeoCon show attendees.

 

Solution

We drew our inspiration from artist Larry Bell, a 2019 collaborator with Mannington Commercial who is known for his angular, glass Standing Walls installations. We presented striking black-and-white photography related to product inspiration and overlaid them with red glass panels, where inspiration content and product descriptions were displayed. The result was a sophisticated, on-brand showroom that emphasized the inspiring design possibilities of Mannington Commercial’s new products.
